Wearing pearls with casual clothes
It is easy to think about wearing pearls with a beautiful wedding dress or a ball dress, or even to work, but how about with jeans, or casual wear? Yes, pearls look great when you just want to relax. You can wear pearls with casual clothes
Just because you have dressed down to relax for a casual café lunch or shopping trip, or while vacationing at a resort, doesn’t mean that you can’t look stylish. Wearing pearls shows that you have class. Teaming them with casual clothes shows a certain unconventional sense of style and confidence. Not everyone would think of that combination but as you can see in the photograph above, it works.
If you are wearing casual clothing, an elaborate pearl necklace, such as one with other gems in it, won’t look good. Choose a simple strand of pearls. Avoid very large pearls – a smaller size is less imposing and is especially suitable for younger women. Also consider a necklace with pearls that are spaced apart – this is a modern and stylish look.
Some writers suggest pink pearls if you are wearing pastel coloured clothing, but I think that white pearls look good with almost everything (including lighter coloured clothing). If you have pink pearls and a light pink top, then by all means match them up. However white pearls are more versatile.
For casual wear, don’t choose a choker – that would seem too severe. Similarly, a long rope of pearls is probably a bit over the top for casual wear (although, depending on the look you are going after, you could get away with it if you are slightly more dressed up) as is a double or triple row of pearls (from wrapping a pearl rope). Just stick to the single strand.
Freshwater pearls are an affordable option for a necklace to wear with your casual clothes. Freshwater pearls also have a range of shapes that often are slightly irregular, or even quite unusual, that add to the casual look of your clothing.
Another option is a single tear drop shaped pearl in a simple setting, suspended on a simple chain or a neoprene necklace.
The goal of wearing pearls with your casual clothes is to draw attention to your face and to show your natural taste and sophistication that comes through even when you are casually dressed and relaxed. Keep it simple and low-key, be understated, and you will make a winning look.
