Site updates for 10 May 2010
The site continues to develop. Read on to find out the latest news on this new business venture (our new colour scheme, a Google mystery and progress on content).
The new site look is here. We wanted something that is cute and sweet and pink really hit the mark. Our favourite graphic designer Lila was responsible for the great artwork.
Our new logo (an open shell with pearls in it) is incorporated in the graphic you can see at the top of the page.
Pearls are generally a female gift, so hopefully pink will appeal to someone looking for information on pearls for a special woman, whether a beloved wife or girlfriend or a mother or sister, or perhaps even someone in a bridal party.
We are also adding many new informative articles. Our senior writer, Jubair has been kept busy researching these. We automatically tweet all of these, plus we add them to StumbleUpon (our corporate account).
You will notice that we are adding pictures for our articles.
If you Google “Adorable Pearls” you will notice that the title is “Adorable Russian Pearls”. This is a bit of a mystery – it appears nowhere on the site. We are aware that the domain names we use were in use before but abandoned – perhaps it comes from a DMOZ entry for these, although we can’t find one. Anyway, we’ve added a web robot directive to hopefully get rid of this and put something a bit more relevant in. Watch this space.
In terms of the site launch, we are going quite well, but most of the traffic comes from our new articles as they are published in the blogsphere, not from organic search engine traffic. Over time, this will change. We have put in Google Adsense to offer appropriate links to site visitors.
